This course gives an introduction to the dental implant – who, what, where and why? – and provides an explanation of the ongoing role of the dental hygienist in implant therapy – treatment planning through to maintenance.
Participants discuss instrument use and selection for implant debridement, and gain knowledge of criteria for selection of oral hygiene aids for home use.
Educational outcome
Following attendance, participants should understand the differences between the soft tissue interface around a natural tooth versus a dental implant. They will also be able to identify factors which can lead to implant failure.
