New Year 2010
The practice saw a lot of change and growth throughout 2009 and now 2010 is upon us we look forward to continuing a high standard of practice and wish all of our patients a prosperous 2010. We are always happy to hear your views on how we can improve our service or of any aspects of care we provide that you value highly.
Team News
The reception team has a new addition Nina Badiani. (As seen in picture)
We are pleased to welcome back 2 members of staff following maternity leave. Our senior nurse Emma had a beautiful baby girl and Dawn our receptionist had a healthy baby boy, both are looking forward to rejoining the team where they have been greatly missed.
On that note we will be saying goodbye temporarily to one of our dental therapists, Lindsey Wright who will be leaving on maternity in March and we wish her all the best. We will be arranging for a locum hygienist to cover her leave so appointments will not be affected.
A new dental Specialist
Professor Nico Louw a renowned endodontist has joined our Specialist team. Prof Louw’s area of interest is Root Canal Treatment, using specialised equipment like a microscope, digital imaging devices, electronic measuring instruments which leads to more predictable outcome.
A new improved reminder system
We are going to be changing our reminder system; letters have been sent out asking for preferences and updated details. We plan to transfer to a text message reminder; this can be received via text message on a mobile phone or via an automated message via a landline.
India Charity
As mentioned in our previous newsletter we are planning to hold some fund raising events throughout the year to help finance a trip to Gujarat in India. Dr Badiani is working to establish a hospital, new housing and a new dental clinic in a particularly poor area of Gujarat. In August 2010 Dr Badiani will be taking a team of six volunteers, 2 surgeons and four nurses to volunteer for this non-profit organisation. Information on events will be displayed within the practice as organized and on the website.
An apology
On 23rd December the practice was closed due to the severe weather conditions. Many of our staff could not travel due to the icy roads and those that could were delayed by road closures. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our patients and hope not to see a repeat of this. Our advice to you if weather conditions do take a turn for the worse is to phone the practice before making your way in for an appointment.
Autumn / Winter Newsletter 2009
2009 has seen some big changes for us and we are delighted to say that as we are approaching winter we are still offering the wide selection of specialist treatments, as well as the pain free general dentistry for adults and children.

We recently had a team building event where everyone attended from the Ashburton, Plymouth and Bovey Tracey practices.
The day involved a little adventure in the great outdoors. Starting at the quayside in Exeter we chose to hire a canoe or bike and explore the Exeter river valley park along 2 miles of canal. When we reached our destination we enjoyed a pub lunch followed by a game of volleyball. The day was a great success and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
India Charity
In September 2010 Dr Badiani will be continuing to fund a trip to India to help the community of Gujarat. A hospital, new housing and a new dental clinic are being established. Dr Badiani will be taking a team of 2 surgeons and four nurses to volunteer for this non-profit organisation.
For us to be able to do this we will be arranging some fund raising events later in the year and into next year to support the team. This is so the staff can volunteer and travel to India to work along side Dr Badiani and his family.
Dental Sedation
Here at the Devon Dental Centre of Excellence we are offering dental sedation for very nervous or phobic patients. We have four dentists who provide IV sedation so if you are worried or anxious about dental treatment then please speak to your dentist about sedation.
Sedation is a carefully controlled technique where a single intravenous drug is administered into the vein in a precise and controlled way to reduce the stress associated with treatment.
Congratulations!
We currently have 2 members of staff on maternity leave, we are proud to announce that Dawn had a healthy baby boy and Emma had a beautiful baby girl. We wish them all the best and look forward to them rejoining the team next year.
Congratulations to Rie on passing her Radiography exam.
