Dr Mitesh Badiani

Dr. Mitesh Badiani BDS DPDS

Mitesh has been the Principal of both Ashburton and Plymouth practices for over 14 years. In the last year he has acquired practices in Bovey Tracey, Totnes, Portland and Hay on Wye.

His vision was to create a patient journey which represents a high standard of care and service from the first time the patient walks into the practice right through to the treatment received in surgery and post-treatment communication.  This high level of patient care has been created at the Devon Dental Centre of Excellence. Mitesh is proud of the team which has followed his ethos of putting the patient first.

He is also proud that he has assembled a team of highly experienced specialists (link to Specialists page) which enables patients to be treated ‘in-house’ rather than be referred to either Bristol or London.  The Centre in Ashburton is, in fact, one of only a few practices in the Southwest that offers all types of dental specialist under one roof.

Devon Dental Centre of Excellence has become increasingly successful at providing a variety of post-graduate courses. Mitesh’s vision is that it continues to develop over the next few years and, in conjunction with Professor St John Crean, becomes an internationally recognised post-graduate learning institution.

Mitesh has also been active in supporting overseas communities.  He has set up a charity hospital in Gujarat in North West India that currently treats general patients as well as provides eye surgery and dental treatment. He is also involved in setting up a charitable dental unit in Uganda.

Mitesh is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Warwick as part of the post graduate implant dentistry programme.

He has a specialist interest in:

• Dental Implants (tutor for Warwick University and mentor for "Ankylos" Implant System)
• Cosmetic Dentistry (training done at Louisiana State University in New Orleans under the guidance of some of the top US cosmetic dentists)
• IV Sedation (for nervous patients)
• Hypnotherapy (for patients with a phobia of needles)

Dr Badiani is member of British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology, British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr Andrew Pickering

Dr. Andrew Pickering BDS

Dr Andrew Pickering qualified with Dr Badiani in 1991 at Newcastle University. He initially worked and trained in Newcastle Dental Hospital as a houseman in Restorative Dentistry and Oral Surgery, as well as gaining some early training in oral and maxillofacial surgery as a senior houseman at Truro city hospital before entering general practice. Dr Pickering and Dr Badiani took over Croydon House and Victoria Road dental practices in 1995. They both completed an Osteo-Ti one year Implant Training Programme culminating in the introduction of implants to Croydon House. Dr Pickering left to work for a while in Scotland as a lead clinician and Senior Dental Officer in Oral Surgery working between general practice and hospital. He was also an accredited vocational trainer for newly qualified dentists entering their first year in general practice.

Dr Pickering is in surgery on Mondays,Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Dr Linda Blakely

Dr. Linda Blakely BDS DPDS

Dr Blakely qualified at Birmingham Universtiy in 1980, and joined the practice in 1999. In 2003 she completed a 3 year Post Graduate Diploma, studying Endodontics (root fillings), crowns, bridges and dentures.

More recentley Dr Blakely has had additional training with the International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion (IPSO). This is the study of how to create a comfortable bite and how an incorrect bite can cause a range of problems from tooth fracture, wear, and even headaches.  Dr Blakely has found this training to particularly helpful in providing better bridge and denture work.

Particular interests are in:

• Crowns and dentures, cosmetics
• Achieving a lovely natural comfortable mouth for those who have lost natural teeth

Dr Blakely is very aware that many people are embarrassed by their teeth or dentures, and unaware of what is actually achievable. A loose, uncomfortable denture does not have to be endured.

Dr Blakely has been mentored by Charlotte Stilwell, a Harley Street Specialist in Precision Engineered Dentures.

Dr. Anna-Marie Smith

Dr. Anna-Marie Smith BChD

Senior Clinician

Dr Smith qualified at Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 2000 before moving to England and joining the practice in 2004. She completed an implant course at Devon Dental and was so impressed with the practice that she joined the team.

• Dr Smith welcomes referrals for non-surgical facial rejuvenation (softening facial lines) using Botulinum

Dr Carol Robinson

Dr. Carol Robinson BDS DPDS L.F.Hom(Dent)

Dr Robinson came to the practice in 2001. She trained at Bristol University, where she returned to complete a course in dental homeopathy. Dr Robinson uses her knowledge of homeopathy in the surgery daily. Homeopathy works in harmony with your immune system, is extremely effective and can be taken alongside other medication without producing unwanted side effects. Dr Robinson is the secretary of the Devon IPG (Independent Practitioner Group) and teaches at the Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth.

Dr Robinson is in surgery Mondays.

Dr. Tom Olivelle

Dr. Tom Olivelle BDS F.I.C.O.I

Dr Olivelle qualified at Guys Hospital, London and worked part-time as a Clinical Assistant in the Oral Maxillofacial department at St John's Hospital, Chelmsford whilst establishing his own practice in St Albans.In 2005 he moved to Devon.

Dr Olivelle takes the utmost pride in his work and adopts a professional and caring manner. He is dedicated to providing the very best quality of dental care and treatment, he has a keen interest in Oral Surgery, in particular all aspects surrounding the placement of dental implants, including perio-surgery (the gums), and oral enhancement / reconstruction.

Dr Olivelle is in surgery on Fridays.
